We like to keep things simple. Every project starts with an enquiry and an informal chat. No pressure. If we both wish to continue, we’ll ask you for a brief. The Brief Tell us what you want. If you’re not sure, we’ll help you work it out. If you know exactly, we’ll review it with you until we understand too. Briefing is usually best done face-to-face, and although we don’t always need to meet our clients, it’s helpful if we can. The Proposal We’ll write down what we’ve agreed: what we’re doing, by when, for whom, how long it’s going to take and how much it’s going to cost. Once you’re happy with it, we’ll begin work. The Project We’ll write a five-line email or a 500-page book. Usually it’s somewhere in between: an article or series of articles, a monthly newsletter, a set of corporate information documents. We usually work in our own premises but can also work on your site, your customers’ sites or in the field. Often it’s a combination of all the above – whichever is most efficient. We provide whatever level of Project Management is appropriate, from none at all to total handling. The Fees We charge a daily rate for one-off projects, agreed in advance and commencing when the proposal is accepted. We place a premium on commitment and flexibility and the fee will take this into account. For ongoing work (such as a newsletter or PR activity) we can work on a retainer basis. If we refer your project to one of our associates, they will set the fees and handle the billing. Journalism is billed on a word rate.
